Last night I attended Erev Yom Kippur services at Temple Israel and this morning for Yom Kippur services. Yom Kippur translates to Day of Atonement and is the most important and most holy of days in the Jewish religion. On Yom Kippur God seals the fate for one's sins and some call it the "Closing of the Gates", symbolizing the last time to repent for one's sins. Yom Kippur is also a day of fast. From last night, when the sun went down, until tonight, when the sun goes down and three stars are present in the sky; is when we can break fast. Yom Kippur is very solomn and repentful. Most stay at temple all day and workship or sleep.
I on the other hand have to miss afternoon services because I have to go to work. So easy fast for those who are fasting.
Yom Tov!
