Thanks Mom and Dad!

As an early Christmas gift, Mom and Dad had my tonsils and adenoids removed.  Let me tell you, I looked forward to the resting and being left alone.  Boy was I mistake.  This was the most miserable surgery ever!  When I was in recovery, I was already in pain.  I kept murmering for MORPHINE!  The nurse definitely wanted to get rid of me, but I didn't want to leave.  I just wanted to sleep!  Eventually I got home.  The doctor instructed me to drink lots of water and stay well hydrated.  I couldn't even swallow my own saliva, let alone anything else.  Through the course of the week, my pain increased, by Saturday, December 19th, I was in so much pain I was convinced I was going to die.  I had a fever of 100.9 degrees.  I was so bad I couldn't eat, the upside is I fit in a smaller pair of jeans and an I lost 15 pounds.  However, if I were to endure this again, I think I would opt out of having the surgery as an adult.  I was in pain for a solid 2 weeks and didn't feel well enough to leave the house until 18 days post op.  I would have much rather had the surgery as a child.  I would not recommend having an adults tonsils removed.  Yucky and tons of pain!

Please excuse my messy hair and irritated expression - I just had my tonsils removed.
